Joseph Wang is an American biomedical engineer and inventor. He is a Distinguished Professor, SAIC Endowed Chair, and former Chair of the Department of Nanoengineering at the University of California, San Diego, who specialised in nanomachines, biosensors, nano-bioelectronics, wearable devices, and electrochemistry.

He is also the Director of the UCSD Center of Wearable Sensors and co-director of the UCSD Center of Mobile Health Systems and Applications (CMSA).
 
Joseph Wang spends much of his time researching Nanotechnology, Biosensor, Electrode, Analytical chemistry and Electrochemistry.

His Nanotechnology research is multidisciplinary, incorporating elements of Propulsion and Wearable computer. His Biosensor research is multidisciplinary, incorporating perspectives in Amperometry, Enzyme electrode, Electrochemical biosensor and DNA.
 
His Electrode study combines topics in areas such as Inorganic chemistry, Graphite, Bismuth and Mercury.

Joseph Wang is interested in Detection limit, which is a field of Analytical chemistry. His research integrates issues of Nanoparticle and Microelectrode in his study of Electrochemistry.

He was elected as member of the Euorpean Academy of Engineering in 2019.
